Sat. thru Thurs. 9-26 thru 10-1

Sat and Sun: Watched world cycling championship road races in downtown Richmond. Great fun. Sunday men's elite race we were right at the fence on critical climb and on last lap Peter Sagan, our favorite, made his winning move right in front of us. After Sunday's race drove to Williamsburg for the tandem rally (pre-rally), leaving trailer at Richmond. Rain threatened all the road races and Sat. rained off and on all day, but never hard

Monday 46 mile loop incl Jamestown. One light rain shower. We're way out of shape- not much riding on this summer's trip.

Tues- ferry across James R. and rode to Smithfield. Beautiful 46-mile ride and a pretty old town.

Wed- Rainy and we needed day off anyway, so drove to Yorktown Battlefield. Excellent ranger tour. Rode around battlefield.

Thur- Very rainy and chilly- no ride. Drove to Richmond. Forecast is 100% rain thru Sunday; decided the rally is a washout for us, esp. w possibility of category 4 hurricane Joaquin possibly threatening. So called Shaun to see if we could visit sooner- yes. Will head S tomorrow.
